Current and Voltage Transformer Analyzer CVA500 is DV Power instrument specially made for testing current transformers (CT). It can perform multiple tests – turns ratio, saturation (knee point), burden, demagnetization, winding resistance, and insulation resistance.
CVA500 can be connected to all CT measurement terminals including primary side, up to 5 taps on secondary side, and burden, at once. An internal sophisticated relay matrix enables performing ratio, saturation, burden, insulation resistance, and winding resistance measurements in all 5 taps automatically, without any cable reconnection. Insulation resistance can be measured between any parts – primary to ground, secondary to ground, primary to secondary, and secondary to other core(s) in case of multi-core type CTs.
CVA500 is a very powerful device. It can output up to 2000 V AC (at rated frequency, 50 or 60 Hz) for saturation (knee point) test, and 500 V DC or 1000 V DC for insulation resistance test.
CVA500 can also be used for testing inductive voltage transformers (VT/PT) and capacitive voltage transformers (CVT). A wide resistance measurement range allows measuring winding resistance of VTs primary winding, in addition to secondary winding. Operating burden is measured using the burden rated voltage (up to 110 V AC). For turns ratio test, CVA500 can output maximum voltage of 2 kV AC, which ensures reliable and accurate results even on large CVTs. Insulation can be tested between any parts – primary to ground, secondary to ground, primary to secondary, and secondary to other core(s) in case of multi-core type VTs/CVTs.
